Josef Johann Adam, Prince of Liechtenstein

Johann Josef Adam, Prince of Liechtenstein (25 May 1690 Vienna – 16 December 1732 Valtice) was a prince of Liechtenstein between 1721 and 1732. He was the only living son of Anton Florian of Liechtenstein.

Johann Josef Adam served under his father for a short time during the War of the Spanish Succession and later fought against the French under the Duke of Marlborough. After the Treaty of Utrecht he became Imperial Privy Counsellor in Vienna.

Marriages & Issue

Josef married Gabrielle of Liechtenstein (12 July 1692 - 7 November 1713), daughter of Hans-Adam I, on December 1, 1712. They had one child;

*Karl Anton (1713-1715)

On February 3, 1716 he married Marianne of Thun-Hohenstein (27 September 1698-23 February 1716), but his new bride died only 20 days after the wedding.

On August 3, 1716, in Vienna, he married to Maria Anna of Oettingen-Spielberg (12 September 1693 - 15 April 1729), daughter of Francis Albert, Count of Oettingen-Spielberg. They had three children;

*Josef Anton (1720-1723)
*Johann Nepomuck (6 July 1724 - 22 December 1748)
*Maria Theresia (28 December 1721 - 19 January 1753)

In 1729, Josef married Maria Anna Kottulinsky (12 May 1707 - 6 February 1788). This marriage was childless.
