Dato Tan Chin Nam Stakes

The Dato Tan Chin Nam Stakes is a Group 2 Australian Thoroughbred horse race held under Weight for Age conditions, for horses aged three years old and upwards, over a distance of 1600 metres. It is held at Moonee Valley Racecourse in Melbourne in September.

For a majority of its history it was known as the John F Feehan Stakes. It is named for Malaysian entrepreneur and racehorse owner Dato Tan Chin Nam.

1979 onwards Group 2

1948 the race was known as the ‘Glenroy Stakes’
1949 - 1955 the race was known as the ‘J.F. Feehan Stakes’
1956 - 1969 the race was known as the ‘J.F. Feehan Handicap’
1970 - 1982 the race reverted back to the ‘J.F. Feehan Stakes’
1983 the race was known as the ‘Centennial Stakes’
1984 - 2004 the race reverted back to the ‘J.F. Feehan Stakes’
2005 onwards the race has been known as the ‘Dato Tan Chin Nam Stakes’
