Chapman was born in
Rochdale , on11 October 1973 , but spent the majority of his youth in the town of Sale on the other side of the city of Manchester. He attendedManchester Grammar School , and during his time there developed an interest in radio broadcasting, wanting to work for Radio 1 from the age of 12. He went on a work experience placement with a local hospital radio station. His ambition grew and he went on to achieve a post-graduate degree in broadcast journalism from the University of Hull. Mark Chapman worked as a
continuity announcer on BBC Television before working on Radio 1. Sport Relief in 2008, Chappers and Dave ran 32 miles at 32 premier clubs in England and Scotland.Mark completed the 2008 Flora London Marathon for children's cancer charity
CLIC Sargent .He is a Manchester United fan, and often makes comments about his support for the club on
The Scott Mills Show On20 June 2008 he was scheduled to take part in aGCSE HigherMaths exam, along with eight other Radio 1 DJs and personalities. However, he pulled out at the last minute.References
