"Hemipsilichthys" is a genus of catfishes belonging to the family Loricariidae. These wide-mouthed freshwater catfishes are all restricted to Brazil, mostly in the coastal basins of the south and southeast with one species, "Hemipsilichthys regani", further north in the Amazon basin. There are 19 currently described species but several others await formal description.cite journal|url=http://www.mapress.com/zootaxa/2003f/zt00285.pdf|title=A new species of the loricariid catfish genus "Hemipsilichthys" from southern Rio de Janeiro coastal rivers, southeastern Brazil (Teleostei: Siluriformes)|last=Pereira|first=Edson H.L.|coauthors=Reis, Robert E.; Souza, Pablo F.M.;Lazzarotto, Henrique|pages=1–10|year=2003|journal=Zootaxa|volume=285|format=PDF]

"Hemipsilichthys", along with "Delturus", form a clade (Delturinae). In these two genera, members have a ridge behind their dorsal fin and an adipose fin membrane. However, in "Hemipsilichthys", the dorsal fin membrane and most anterior plate of the adipose fin do not touch, while they do in "Delturus".
