- Planet Perfecto
Planet Perfecto were a dance "supergroup" formed in 1997 by
Paul Oakenfold ,Ian Masterson &Jake Williams . They were signed to Oakenfold's record label,Perfecto Records .Introduction
Their first release was Georgie Girl on 12" vinyl in 1997; the single did not make it into the
UK single charts [ [http://www.discogs.com/artist/Planet+Perfecto Planet Perfecto ] ] . However, their next track, Not Over Yet '99, was very successful in dance music terms by going in at number 16 on the 8th of August, 1999 [ [http://umdmusic.com/default.asp?Lang=English&Search=planet+Perfecto&Where=Bands Ultimate Music Database ] ] . They worked with a fourth producer,Matt Darey on the track, a remix/re-edit ofNot Over Yet byGrace (band) to create the track, which was to be the first of four hits for the group. Oakenfold had been a member of Grace.Planet Perfecto's UK Single Releases
Oakenfold, Masterson & Williams
Before forming Planet Perfecto, all three producers had made their names in the dance music scene under different guises. Most notably Jake Williams as JX [ [http://www.discogs.com/artist/Jake+Williams Jake Williams ] ] > and Masterson with
Flexifinger [ [http://www.discogs.com/artist/Ian+Masterson Ian Masterson ] ] .Paul Oakenfold was often viewed as being the main force behind "Planet Perfecto", but this is probably because Paul was more of a household name; being very successful as a DJ and having hits under numerous guises [ [http://www.discogs.com/artist/Paul+Oakenfold Paul Oakenfold ] ] .Today
Unlike their pop group & band counterparts, dance acts don't tend to officially "split" but it can be assumed that Planet Perfecto have disbanded due to a lack of a single being released since 2001. All three producers have also undertaken many independent projects since their last single.
