Voodoo Mojo, formed December, 2005, is an American rock band with blues influences.

Who is Voodoo Mojo

Voodoo Mojo, based in the Louisville, Kentucky area, is a regional/national act, and consists of Ray Barrickman on bass and vocals, Rick Valentine on guitar and vocals, and Jeff Roby on drums and backing vocals.

Ray Barrickman, has played in Hank Williams Jr's BAMA Band for over 24 years, as well as other popular professional bands, including The Oxfords, The Impressions, Sammy Hagar, Leslie West, Kieth Sykes, and The Kentucky Headhunters, to name a few. Rick Valentine has toured Europe and the East coast for the Army Entertainment Division, and has played in several local bands since 1993. Jeff Roby has opened for Travis Tritt, Alan Jackson, Diamond Rio, and Toby Keith among others, while he was with David Ratterman and Lost Highway, which had been in production of their CD/album that they worked on at Allen-Martin Productions in the 90s. Jeff has played in various styles of music ranging from Alternative rock to Country, as well as Blues, Southern rock and Classic rock in local bands in and around Louisville.

Changes in musical directions

Ray Barrickman began playing rock and roll music when he was a teenager and has covered almost every other style of popular music imaginable throughout his career, ranging from psychedelic '60s rock to modern country music.

Jeff and Rick have played in various bands separately and together for many years, ranging from Country music to Alternative rock music.

Voodoo Mojo, in the beginning, were focusing primarily on covering modern Alternative rock music, and their originals were definitely a reflection of that genre. However, with the addition of Ray Barrickman, the music has branched out to encompass a greater variety of textures and lyrical subjects, ranging from political to trivial, as can be heard on the approaching CD album release this year (2007).
