ABC (Audit Bureau of Circulations UK)

In the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland, the ABC certifies and audits the circulations of major publications, including newspapers and magazines.

History

The Audit Bureau of Circulations (UK) is normally known as "ABC". It was founded on 14 October 1931, initially by ISBA (Society of British Advertisers) to provide an independent verification of circulation/data figures to facilitate the buying and selling of advertising space within UK National newspapers. Due to the phenomenal success, the (IPA), PPA, NS and NPA (Newspaper Publishers' Association) became involved and ABC has developed into the organisation it is today, providing independent verification of data for print, lists/databases and exhibitions in the UK and the Ireland.

ABC is a not for profit organisation governed by a council of permanent and elected representatives from advertisers, advertising agencies, media owners and their representative trade bodies. It is a leading member of the International Federation of ABCs.

Online ABC

ABCe was established in 1996 as the new media arm of ABC. It delivers electronic media audits. It is the industry owned, not-for-profit organisation which provides independently verified traffic and related data across a broad range of new media platforms.
