Gesha is one of the 77
woreda s in theSouthern Nations, Nationalities and Peoples' Region ofEthiopia . Part of theKeficho Shekicho Zone , Gesha is bordered on the south by Chena, on the southwest byYeki , on the west byMasha Anderacha , on the north by theOromia Region , and on the east byGinbo . Towns in Gesha include Deka andYadeta .Gesha is home to the Gemadro Coffee Plantation, a property of the Ethio-Coffee and Tea Plantation and Marketing PLC, which is a division of
MIDROC . According to the Gemadro website, 1010 of the 2295 hectares is planted in coffee. The plantation and the neighboring village are named after the Gemadro River. Sheko people . Based on figures published by the Central Statistical Agency in 2005, this woreda has an estimated total population of 166,026, of whom 85,383 were males and 80,643 were females; 4,674 or 2.82% of its population are urban dwellers, which is less than the Zone average of 9.7%. With an estimated area of 2,382.35 square kilometers, Gesha has an estimated population density of 69.7 people per square kilometer, which is less than the Zone average of 81.9.
