semi-automatic pistol chambered for the7.65mm Longue cartridge. It was developed by Charles Petter, engineer of the French company "Société Alsacienne de Constructions Mécaniques" (SACM) and used by theFrench Army in several wars. Initial production began in 1936 and was redesigned in 1938 to simplify manufacture.The gun was noticed for its durability and reliability. Inventory of this pistol taken during the German occupation were issued to German officers as well.
After World War II, the pistol was used by the French military and police until it was replaced by the 9 mm MAC/MAS mle 1950.
