Matt ChinCountry of origin Canada No. of episodes 70+ on Bite TV Production Running time 24:30 Minutes Broadcast Original channel Bite TV Original airing January 2006 The Conventioneers is a television program currently on Bite TV. The series is hosted by Jason Agnew, and Matt Chin. The series originally began as a simple interview style program set in various conventions across Toronto and Mississauga. Since the shows inception in 2006, The Conventioneers has undergone periods of formatting changes. No longer are they exclusive to conventions as they showcased in the "Calgary Adventure" episodes. Since that episode the Conventioneers have been known to visit events such as Wakestock, and The Festival of Beer. The Conventioneers is now one of the staples of the Bite TV rotation, as it receives constant airing and repeats.
In the first two seasons of the series, Matt and Jay try to "fit in" with the fans by wearing costumes related to the convention, event, or locale. At the motorcycle show they wore racing gear, and while in Calgary the dressed up as cowboys. They have since abandoned this portion of the program altogether.
In 2011 the show received a bit of notoriety for a complaint being lodged to the Canadian Broadcast Standards Council. The complaint was regarding an episode which featured interviews with children and, when edited for airing, the statements in the interviews were replaced with voice-over remarks regarding rape and incest. The council concluded that the episode violated the prohibition against the sexualization of children and the channel was made to pull the episode and issue an apology.
