Prickle (Gumby character)

Prickle (Gumby character)

Prickle is one of the main characters from Art Clokey's well-known claymation Gumby. He first featured in the original series of the show and went on to play more prominent parts in later series in the 1980s. Prickle is a yellow dragon or dinosaur* (often thought of as a dinosaur, but in the episode "The Search" he is told by Gumby "Since you are relatives you go and distract "the dragon".."). Prickle can actually breathe fire like a dragon.

He often declares himself as a detective, sporting a pipe and a hat in the likeness of Sherlock Holmes. Whilst he is sporting this gear he often devotes his time to finding clues and following them, much like Sherlock himself, he also often produces a magnifying glass out of thin air to look at footprints and the like.

* - In the 1980s episode "All Cooped Up", Prickle is called a dinosaur by Pokey [http://youtube.com/watch?v=T4HRo0Vaxb4] .
* - In 1959, first appearance of Prickle in "Dragon Witch"; later in 1964 official on TV channels.
