Shane Perry was part of theQueensland Cup playing for theLogan Scorpions in1998 , winning theRothmans medal for best and fairest player that year.Shane Perry started out his first-grade rugby league career withWestern Suburbs Magpies in 1999, before moving on toCanterbury Bulldogs in 2000–2001. He has played for the Queensland Cup teamRedcliffe Dolphins , winning their player of the year award in 2002 and also captaining the side.Perry was brought into the Brisbane Broncos camp/squad to provide cover during the State of Origin period where the Broncos are traditionally hit hardest with extra playing duties and/or injuries. But Perry became the No. 1 Halfback, when team-mate
Brett Seymour had his contract with the club terminated. Perry's ability to complement captainDarren Lockyer on-field relieves some pressure from the captain. Perry's form continued to improve and he was part of the 2006 winning Broncos grand final team.Shane is one of the few NRL players that mix rugby-league career with a job.
