Allen Jones RA (born
1 September 1937 ) is a Britishpop art ist, best known for his sculptures, but also a graphic artist.Jones was born in
Southampton and from 1955 to 1961 studied at theHornsey College of Art (London). He had the distinction of being expelled from theRoyal College of Art ; from 1961 to 1963 he taught atCroydon College of Art .His exhibition of
erotic sculpture s, like the set "Chair", "Table" and "Hat Stand" (1969), each of which turns a woman into an item of furniture. Much of his work draws on the imagery of rubber fetishism andBDSM . The sculptures in theKorova Milkbar from the film A Clockwork Orange were based on works by Jones.Jones himself designed the film "Maîtresse " (dir. Barbet Schroeder, 1976).He was elected RA in 1986. He lives and works in London.
