Bio

Steve Sutherland has been voted 4 times, by not only the music industry but also the public for the Best club and radio DJ off his own merit over the past 6 years.

Sutherland got his first break in radio via an introduction from the then BBC Radio One producer Ivor Etienne (now head MD of Choice FM, who dubbed him ‘Steve 'Smooth' Sutherland’), to the then controller of Radio One Matthew Banister to host a four hour radio show encompassing hip hop, R&B, Soul, UK Garage, Dancehall and House.He enlisted the help of DJ / producer Shamus Haji. After that brief foray, he then did various guest radio mixes for Kiss 100, before London’s Choice FM approached him in 2000. He then brought co-host Asha on board, where they had one of the most successful shows on Choices’ new sister station 107.1, with two shows during the week. Sutherland quickly picked up on the craft of running a successful radio program, to guest host other shows on Choice Fm 96.9

After only 5 months at Choice FM, he won his 1st best DJ award at the MOBO awards ceremony, where approached by various radio stations. He left Choice FM to host a Sunday show on Galaxy FM and was offered the 9-1pm time slot, following the stations headlining talent Hed Kandi. The popularity of his radio show quickly began to overtake competitive shows on other stations in the Rajar ratings), where he quickly gained a large fan base. The STEVE SUTHERLAND SHOW quickly became one of the most popular urban shows in all of the United Kingdom. In the past six years, Steve Sutherland has earned the titles of the MOBO’s for the “Best club DJ” and “Best radio DJ” four times.

During the course of his program, he has had such high profile guests as Mary J. Blige, 50 Cent, Kanye West, Beyonce, Usher, Omarion, Ciara, Ja Rule, Alicia Keys, Lemar, Mark Ronson, Busta Rhymes, Missy Elliott, Sean Paul, Lil Jon, John Legend, Justin Timberlake, Timbaland, Janet Jackson, Wyclef, Kano, Akon, Stephen and Damien Marley plus many more. He has also flown to the USA to interview the likes of R.Kelly, Brandy, Outkast amongst others. Sutherlands' interview style is honest and he prides himself on the fact that ‘I will not even think about fake radio – or fake anything for that matter’. In both his radio and television shows he dishes celebrity gossip, conducts interviews and speaks his mind about current events.The success of the Sunday show has allowed station executives of the Chrysalis Group to start ‘STEVE SUTHERLAND –THE OFFICIAL JUMPOFF’ on Saturdays in August 2003. It is the most listened to urban show within the Galaxy transmission reach.

Steve also hosts his twice weekly shows on the most listened to commercial radio station by 15-34s in the UK – ‘Galaxy FM’, two of the biggest urban shows every Saturday & Sunday night. The public attribute this to his high-octane style, taste-making music and his inter stellar live guest list in the studio that Steve has assembled - a roster of the hottest and most versatile artists in the planet Most notably known for his contribution to Urban music via his history with the legendary Twice As Nice, where from being the first DJ to play at this event, he went onto mix 11 albums via Warner and Universal music.

Currently dominating the Urban club scene around the world,which includes a weekly summer residency for super club brand Pacha alongside Roger Sanchez for the third year running. He has also helped develop major events across the UK.

He cosistanly performs invarious locations as such as Dubai, Switzerland, Africa, Athens, Austria, Ibiza, Barcelona, Cairo, Sharm el Shek, Finland, Germany, Sweden, Amsterdam plus many more around the globe.
