Sheffield, England ) was an author and professor of history atNew York University .Background
After reading history at
Oxford University , Parkes came to the United States to pursue graduate studies at theUniversity of Michigan . He received his Ph.D. from Michigan in 1929 and joined the history faculty ofNew York University in 1930. He had also lectured atBarnard College , theUniversity of Wyoming , theNew School for Social Research and theUniversity of Washington . From 1956-57, Parkes was aFulbright Fellow , working at theUniversity of Athens inGreece .Books
