Next album ="Ever Sense the Dawn" was the first and only major label release by Boise-based 70's classicially influenced rock band,
Providence . The album was produced by Tony Clarke, the same producer that produced most of the albums recorded byThe Moody Blues . The album contains entirely original self-penned songs by the group including two short string-trio pieces; a skillful exploration of mixing string ensemble arrangements with layers of harmony vocals in a rock format. The end result is one of the finest examples of 70's classical-influenced rock. The album was released on The Moody Blues' ownThreshold Records label and was the only release on the label to originate from an American band. The album features a string trio of viola, violin and cello, recorder, harpsichord, piano and other keyboards, along with zither, autoharp, electric and acoustic guitar, electric bass, hand drums and cymbals.
Group members included Bart Bishop (vocals, autoharp, keyboards, rhythm guitar), Bob Barritua (vocals, bass, rhythm guitar),Andy Guzie (vocals, electric guitar, twelve string guitar), Tom Tompkins (vocals, viola, flute), Tim Tompkins (vocals, cello, recorder, percussion), Jim Cockey (violin, percussion).
Members of Providence appeared on the album "BlueJays" by Moody Blues members Justin Hayward and John Lodge. And in 1977 Tim and Tom Tomkins appeared on the Justin Hayward album SONGWRITER.
