Karstula is a municipality of
Finland .It is located in the province of
Western Finland and is part of theCentral Finland region. The municipality has a population of 4,904 (2003 ) and covers an area of 963.45 km² of which 73.69 km² is water. Thepopulation density is 5.1 inhabitants per km².It was founded in
1867 .Architecture
* A number of historical buildings (from the beginning of the 20th century) has been preserved in the village centre, representing the original countryside buildings of the region.
