"Psychological Types" is the title of the sixth volume in the Princeton / Bollingen edition of the Collected Works of
Carl Jung . [cite book | last = Jung | first = Carl G. | authorlink = Carl Jung | coauthors = | title = Psychological Types | publisher = Princeton University Press | date = 1971 | location = Princeton, New Jersey | pages = | url = | doi = | id = | isbn = 0-691-01813-8 ] The original German language edition, "Psychologische Typen", was first published by Rascher Verlag, Zurich in 1921.In the book Jung categorized people into primary types ofpsychological function .Jung proposed that there were four main functions of consciousness: Two of them being perceiving functions:
*Sensation andIntuition And two being judging functions:
*Thinking andFeeling The functions are modified by two main attitude types: extraversion and introversion.
Jung theorized that whichever function dominates consciousness its opposite function is repressed and will characterize unconscious behavior.
