Thomas C. Zimmerman

Colonel Thomas C. Zimmerman (1838-1914) was a Pennsylvania German language writer and translator. He was born in Lebanon County, Pennsylvania, USA on 1838-01-23, and died in Reading, Berks County, Pennsylvania on 1914-11-13. Originally a printer by trade, he rose to the position of editor of the newspaper "Reading Times" (Pennsylvania), and took great delight in translating poems from different languages into the Pennsylvania German language (also known as Pennsylvania Dutch). A translation of Oliver Goldsmith's "An Elegy on the Death of a Mad Dog" appears in Vol. II of "Olla Podrida", published by Mr. Zimmerman at Reading in 1903.
