Westchester Community College

Westchester Community College is a public, two-year college sponsored by Westchester County, New York and SUNY. The 364-acre main campus is built on the former estate of John A. Hartford in Greenburgh, New York. The college also provides instruction at twelve other off-campus locations.

The college curricula are registered and approved by the New York State Education Department. The College is one of 30 community colleges affiliated with the State University of New York (SUNY). Westchester Community College is sponsored locally by the County of Westchester.

Many courses are available during summer sessions as well as in the fall and spring semesters. In addition to credit courses leading to associate degrees or certificates, Westchester Community College offers a full range of noncredit courses for students of all ages to sharpen their skills and broaden their interests.

The college was founded in 1946 as the New York State Institute of Applied Arts and Sciences in White Plains. The college offers the Associate Degree in forty areas and Certificates in twenty. The student body numbers 12,000.Westchester Community College does not require SAT scores although placement exams are required in math, reading and writing.
