Tehuledere is one of the 105
woreda s in theAmhara Region ofEthiopia . Located at the eastern edge of theEthiopian highlands in theDebub Wollo Zone , Tehuledere is bordered on the south byDessie Zuria , on the southwest by Kutaber, on the west byAmba Sel , on the north by theSemien Wollo Zone , and on the east byWere Babu . Towns in Tehuledere includeBaso Mille ,Boru Selassie , Hayq andSulula .The hydrology of this woreda includes two lakes, which lie entirely within it: Hayq, and Ardibbo south of it. Other notable landmarks include the monasteries of
Debre Egziabeher and Istifanos.Based on figures published by the Central Statistical Agency in 2005, this woreda has an estimated total population of 165,188, of whom 84,059 were males and 81,129 were females; 20,455 or 12.38% of its population are urban dwellers, which is close to the Zone average of 12.4%. With an estimated area of 484.69 square kilometers, Tehuledere has an estimated population density of 340.8 people per square kilometer, which is greater than the Zone average of 173.56. The
NGO Agri-Service Ethiopia, announced in November 2006 that they had started projects to improve food security and infrastructure in Tehuledere, with a total budget of over 7.1 million birr. Some 44,803 inhabitants in six selected ruralkebele s would benefit from this project.
