The station began its broadcasting activities in 1986 with a
Southern Gospel format with temporarycallsign KLCA before making a permanent switch to KDFT two months later. Then in1990 , the station slightly changed its format tourban contemporary gospel , much like KHVN-AM. From that day on, it was known as "The Rainbow Across North Texas" (The station's slogan). In1998 , KDFT again changed its format to Spanish religious format under the same name and slogan until1999 . It has operated during the Daytime hours until 2004 when it expanded its airtime to 24 hours a day.Former station logo(s)
