- Camp Newport
Newport Adventure Camp is a
Salvation Army camp located on Skeleton Lake in Utterson,Ontario ,Canada . The camp is over 40acre s in size and consists of five cabins and 6 TeePees to house campers. The 6 day summer program includes: 6 elctives that can be chosen by top 2. The electives consist of; Boating, in which you Canoe, Kayak and on Friday you might go motor-boating, Ropes and Rock Climbing, in which you can go down the zipline, walk across the bridge course or rock climb indoors or up a real rock cliff. Artchery, in witch you learn the basic skills of bow and arrow handy work, also aiming skills and a chance to shoot at a haystack and other targets. Outdoor Living, in which you hike, cook outdoors, and learn basic survival skills. There is also Mountain Biking in which leaders take campers on bike rides up and down hills and through rock paths. And there is Sports, offering opportunity to participate in a variety of organized activities. The camp is equipped with a canteen, volleyball court, baseball diamond, hiking trails, beautiful beach and a "Chapel In The Pines" an assembly area in the forest. The camp also traditionally holds a Camp for Moms and Tots (children 0-5) at the beginning of the summer and a Music Camp at the end of the summer. Music Camp utilizes both the camp staff and faculty members from across the province and others from around the world.Purpose
Camp Newport serves children 10-17 from across the province of Ontario. The
statement of purpose of Camp Newport is::"To serve the total personality and
health needs of the camper (spiritual, educational, social and recreational) through a creative, healthful experience, in co-operative group living in outdoor settings."
