Rodney Hall OAM (born
18 November 1935 ) is anAustralian writer.Biography
Born in
Birmingham ,England , Hall came to Australia as a child afterWorld War II and studied at theUniversity of Queensland (1971) ["Australian Poets and Their Works", by William Wilde. Oxford University Press, 1996] . In the 1960s Hall began working as a freelance writer, and a book and film reviewer. He also worked as an actor, and was often engaged by theAustralian Broadcasting Commission in Brisbane. Between 1967 and 1978 he was the Poetry Editor ofThe Australian . He lived in Shanghai for a period in the late 1980s. From 1990-1993, he served as chair of theAustralia Council . In addition to a number of literary awards, he has received an Order of Australia Medal.
Rodney's most recent novel "Love without Hope" was launched in early February 2007 and was published by Picador.
