Giaginsky District was established within
Azov-Black Sea Krai onDecember 31 ,1934 as a result of the downsizing of theKrai 's districts. OnApril 10 ,1936 , KhanskySelsoviet ofMaykopsky District of the Krai was merged into Giaginsky District and the latter, along with the city ofMaykop , was given toAdyghe Autonomous Oblast .cite book
