Fiq is one of the 47
woreda s in theSomali Region ofEthiopia , named after its major town, Fiq. Part of theFiq Zone , Fiq is bordered on the south by Hamero, on the west and north by theOromia Region , and on the east by theDegehabur Zone ; the woreda's western boundary is defined by theErer River . Darod clan of theSomali people .Based on figures published by the Central Statistical Agency in 2005, this woreda has an estimated total population of 141,300, of whom 64,765 were males and 76,535 were females; 12,911 or 9.14% of its population are urban dwellers, which is less than the Zone average of 11.6%.
