Hamero is one of the 47
woreda s in theSomali Region ofEthiopia , named after its major town,Hamero . Part of theFiq Zone , Hamero is bordered on the south byDihun , on the west by the Erer andShebelle River s which separate it from theOromia Region , on the north by Fiq, on the east by theDegehabur Zone , and on the southeast by Segeg. Darod clan of theSomali people .Based on figures published by the Central Statistical Agency in 2005, this woreda has an estimated total population of 51,836, of whom 21,783 were males and 30,053 were females; 3,575 or 6.90% of its population are urban dwellers, which is less than the Zone average of 11.6%.
