Early years
Le Vaillant came to the UK aged 16. He studied acting at school in Dorset. Playwright Alan Ayckbourn asked if he would work as an assistant stage manager in a Scarborough Theatre production. He was to sit A Levels at Oxford, but instead took the job, which was short-lived. He studied English at St. Peter's College, Oxford. Three years later he got his equity card and an agent. He later joined the Royal Shakespeare Company. Le Vaillant had also a role in TV-series Brideshead Revisited (1981).[2] He then went on to play Dr. Julian Chapman between 1990 and 1992 in the popular medical drama Casualty before becoming Dr. Paul Dangerfield in the drama Dangerfield from 1995 to 1997.[3]
Today
Le Vaillant lives in Brixton, South London. He is separated from his wife, Nicola Jeffries, whom he had married in January 1995. They met at a read-through, in which she played junior receptionist, Jenny, in series 7 of the BBC's Casualty.[4] He divides his time between London and India, where he shares a 12-acre estate near Ootacamund with John Sinclair Willis [5].
