Bernhard Russi (born
August 20 ,1948 , inAndermatt ,Switzerland ) is a former ski racer.On
February 15 ,1970 , he won thedownhill at the World Championships in front of theAustria nKarl Cordin andAustralia nMalcolm Milne . Two years later at the 1972 Olympics in Sapporo, he won a gold medal in the same discipline. CountrymanRoland Collombin secured the silver and a Swiss "double victory,"Four years later at the 1976 Olympics in
Innsbruck , Russi posted a fantastic time in the downhill atPatscherkofel , but took the silver medal 0.33 seconds behindAustria nFranz Klammer , who started 15th, the last of the top seeds.Beginning with the 1992 Winter Olympics, Bernhard Russi has been noted as the designer of the
downhill courses for the Olympics. This stemmed from the overwhelming dissatisfication of the courses at the two previous games; since Russi took over, there have been few complaints.External links
