The 14th congressional district of Illinois covers a part of northern Illinois, including the cities of Aurora, Elgin, DeKalb, and Dixon, and parts of Henry, Whiteside, Lee, DeKalb, Kane, Kendall, DuPage and Bureau counties. It is represented by Democrat Bill Foster.

Representation

The district was represented by Republican Dennis Hastert, who was the longest serving Republican Speaker of the House in U.S. history. The previous holder of this GOP record, Joseph Gurney Cannon represented the district in his early career from 1873-1883 (although he wasn't Speaker until he represented the 18th district).

A special election was held on March 8, 2008. Democrat Bill Foster defeated Republican Jim Oberweis by 52.5% to 47.5%.
