A Vodka Red Bull, known by a wide variety of names, is a cocktail made by mixing vodka and the high-energy drink Red Bull. It is popular among the 18-30 generation in bars and nightclubs in Europe, the United States and Australia. The Vodka Red Bull ratio varies widely, but is usually around 1:5. In some places it is customary to serve an entire can with a single shot of vodka, in others a can may be split between several glasses, each containing several shots of vodka. The Red Bull dominates so that the flavor of the alcohol is not too strong.

Vodka Red Bull is especially popular in nightclubs, as it can provide the energy for dancing into the early hours of the morning. It also allows the drinker to become intoxicated without getting tired. Red Bull claims that the taurine contained in Red Bull helps in the absorption of alcohol,Fact|date=June 2008 but there is no evidence of this.

Vodka Red Bull is considered expensive when ordered at a club or bar in America, with many clubs charging in excess of $10 for a serving. This is not the case in all countries; for example, in Britain it usually costs between £3 and £6 (approx. 6 USD and 12 USD), but in clubs with special offers, the price can be as low as £1 (2USD) The average price for a vodka and Red Bull in Australia ranges from $6-$10. Many clubs and bars offer alternative energy drinks to be used, many of which are cheaper thereby offering a similar drink at a lower price, although it is to be noted that the taste of other energy drinks vary.

Some people consider this drink dangerous because alcohol is a depressant while the caffeine in Red Bull is a stimulant, but no proconvulsant effects are likely at the normal dosages conferred by several or even numerous drinks. As with any alcoholic drink, the ethanol contained inside Vodka Red Bulls is directly toxic to cardiac myocytes. It was reported in Sweden that two people succumbed after drinking Vodka Red Bull, but the coroner found no direct link between the drink and the deaths.Who

A Red Bull Vodka is known by several names, in some areas it is called a "Bulka" or "Eyeopener" or "Imraanos" while along the East Coast of the United States, it is simply known as "RBV" or "Red Eyes". In the state of South Carolina they are known as a tachycardia cocktail. It is also known as a "Heart Attack", "Birch" or when mixed with Peach Tree Schnapps, a "Birch Tree". In the American Midwest it is known simply as a "Red Bull and Vodka" or a "Lawnchair." Likewise, in Detroit, it is called a "Pearsall." It has also been called a "Raging Bull" in the Austin, Texas area. Certain areas of Florida refer to it as a "Grey Bull" when customers order the drink with Grey Goose (vodka). In some areas of Canada, a shot glass of vodka is filled and then dropped into a glass of Red Bull or similar energy drink, which is promptly drunk. This is known as a "One-Armed Scissor." In Switzerland it is called "Gummibäärli" which means Gummi Bear. In Turkey, it is called "Votka Enerji," which means Vodka Energy. In the Czech Republic it is called "Křídla", which means Wings. When mixed with cherry vodka, it is known as a "Cherry Bomb," though this variety has specific regional names as well. When mixed with tequila and vodka, it is sometimes known as a "TVR" in the UK and Tokyo metropolitan area of Japan where the name is recognized as referring to the TVR sports car company. When served with Vodka and Cranberry juice, it is known as, "VCR." When served with Vodka and Champagne it is noted for having a particularly intoxicating effect, and is also known as "VCR." In South Texas and Mexico when mixed with Absolut vodka it is called "Absolut Bullshit." In other places it is known simply as a Starlight, Vodkameister,JaegerBomb, or Vodka Red Bull. Preparation notes

As with all cocktails, various modes of preparation exist, varying according to the recipes and styles of particular bars or mixologists. Most common varieties just adjust the amount of Vodka and/or Red Bull put into the drink, or the size of the drink. Standard preparation, though, can be done in 3 simple steps:
* Pour a cold can (usually a slim 250 ml can) of Red Bull into highball glass, (with or without ice in it)
* Fill a shot glass with cold Vodka
* Drop the entire Vodka shot into a Highball glass filled with Red Bull
