Raising Up An Army

Raising Up An Army

Raising Up An Army (RUAA) is a Catholic youth retreat put on by the Queen of Peace Youth Team based out of Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada and supported by the Atlantic Service Committee of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal. RUAA is held bi-annually in May and October at the Between the Hearts Renewal Centre in Amherst, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Experience

RUAA is always full of music, games, skits, great Catholic teachings, the Sacrament of Reconciliation, Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, Eucharist and lots more. The weekend is usually closed with a period where everyone who attended can share their experiences with each other.

Previous retreats

On the weekend of November 5, 1999 the Between the Hearts Renewal Center was alive with the sounds of over 50 teenagers who gathered to share their Catholic faith, with music, stories and a lot of fun . It was the first gathering of its kind and it drew youth from New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island - all of whom came with an alive love of the Lord and a hunger to deepen their relationship with God. The guest speaker was the Most Reverend Bishop James Wingle of the Diocese of Yarmouth. The second retreat was held from May 12th - 14th, 2000. Instead of bringing in a guest speaker, the youth of Saint John and Miramichi prepared talks and witnesses for the weekend. A little over 50 youth attended from the 3 Maritime provinces and many addresses, phone numbers and e-mails were exchanged.

The third retreat was held on September 8 - 10, 2000. Almost 80 youth attended. It featured talks by the Most Reverend Bishop Fabor MacDonald of the Diocese of Saint John.

The fourth retreat was held on April 27–29, 2001.
