Diane Tucker (born Diane Lynn McKiel in 1965) is a Canadian poet born and raised in Vancouver,
British Columbia .Tucker attended John Oliver Secondary School and at 14 starred in the school play, "Oliver!" By graduation she yearned to become an actor but feared that she lacked the beauty and talent for such an occupation and instead pursued a writing career. She graduated from the
University of British Columbia 's Creative Writing Program (BFA 1986). Her first book of poems, "God on His Haunches," published by Nightwood Editions in 1996, was nominated for the League of Canadian Poets' 1997Gerald Lampert Memorial Award . She was the League's British Columbia representative for 1998 to 1999.Her poems have appeared in three Canadian anthologies and have been published in literary magazines in
Canada , theUnited States and elsewhere.Tucker's next book, "The Bright Scarves of Hours," will be published by
Ontario 's [http://www.palimpsestpress.ca Palimpsest Press] in September 2008.For many years she has resided in Burnaby, British Columbia with her husband and two children.
