Caesar Andrade Faini (b. 1913,
Quito ,Ecuador ) is a master Ecuadorian painter and teacher who studied at the School of Fine Arts of Quito under the painterVictor Mideros . Andrade's initial work focused on Social Realism like his contemporariesEduardo Kingman ,Oswaldo Guayasamin ,Camilo Egas andBolivar Mena Franco , as well as many others. In 1937, Andrade created a series of dark images for his thesis called, "Social Misery". By 1943, Andrade entered into an Expressionist phase that was thought to be influenced by painter, Hans Michelson. In 1954, Andrade took over Michelson's chair at the Municipal School of Art. Some of Andrade's students includedTheo Constanté ,Luis Miranda ,Félix Arauz ,Juan Villafuerte ,Judith Gutierrez andJose Carreño .Andrade is often considered the best interpreter of Ecuador's coastal landscape.
