- A53 steel
ASTM A53 is a carbon
steel alloy , used forstructural steel pipe. The alloy specifications are set byASTM International , in specification [http://www.astm.org/DATABASE.CART/REDLINE_PAGES/A53A53M.htm ASTM A53/A53M] . A53 pipe is suitable for structural or pressure applications.A53 pipe comes in three types and two grades, A53 Type F, which is longitudinally furnace butt welded or continuous welded (Grade A only), A53 Type E, which is longitudinally electric resistance welded (Grades A and B), and A53 Type S, which is seamless pipe, produced by hot working, and possibly cold finishing, the steel (Grades A and B).
pecifications
As with other steels, A53 has a specific gravity of approximately 7.85, and therefore a density of approximately 7850 kg/m3.
A53 pipe comes in two grades, A and B. Grade A is commonly used for structural applications.
A53 Grade A has a minimum tensile
yield strength of 205 MPa (30 ksi), and minimum tensile ultimate strength of 330 MPa (48 ksi). A53 Grade B has a minimum tensile yield strength of 240 MPa (35 ksi), and minimum tensile ultimate strength of 415 MPa (60 ksi).
