Amibara

Amibara is one of the 29 woredas in the Afar Region of Ethiopia. Part of the Administrative Zone 3, Amibara is bordered on the south by Awash Fentale, on the west by the Awash River which separates it from Dulecha to the southwest then on the northwest by the Administrative Zone 5, on the north by Gewane, and on the east by the Oromia Region. Towns in Amibara include Awash Arba, Awash Sheleko, Melka Sedi and Melka Werer.

The highest peak in this woreda is the dormant volcano Mount Hertali (900 meters).

Based on figures published by the Central Statistical Agency in 2005, this woreda has an estimated total population of 54,190, of whom 23,982 were males and 30,208 were females; 28,397 or 52.40% of its population are urban dwellers, which is greater than the Zone average of 27.8%. Information is not available for the area of Amibara, so its density cannot be calculated.
