The Pericles, named after the Athenian leader

She was a fast ship and her maiden voyage from

She made a trip to
Fiji carrying 461India nindenture d labourers and arriving atSuva on3 July 1884 . There was an outbreak ofcholera during the voyage, with 35 cases being reported and 20 deaths.Sale and scrap
In 1904, the Pericles was sold to a Norwegian buyer and changed ownership twice more before being renamed "Sjurso" in 1916. She was scrapped at
