"His Hand in Mine" was Elvis Presley's first RCA Victor 12" long-play gospel album, recorded and originally released in 1960; a followup to his 1957 EP Peace in the Valley.

It is well known that Elvis Presley was a devout Christian [ [http://www.elvisgospel.com/ Welcome to Elvis Gospel ] ] and as such was especially fond of Gospel music, and his gospel recordings remain the only Elvis albums ever to receive Grammy award (although "His Hand in Mine" did not receive any such award).

Presley also recorded "Crying in the Chapel" for this album, but the song was not included. Instead, RCA released it as a hit single in April 1965, and the recording eventually ended up as a bonus track on Presley's next gospel album, 1967's "How Great Thou Art". Presley later re-recorded "Swing Down Sweet Chariot" (not to be confused with "Swing Low, Sweet Chariot") for the soundtrack of his 1968 film, "The Trouble with Girls".
