1st Venezuelan Rifles

The 1st Venezuelan Rifles was an Irish regiment that took part in the war for Venezuelan independence. Commanded by Colonel Donald Campbell, its core was British-recruited, and its ranks were filled out with criolles and caribbean natives. The unit took part in actions including expeditions across the Llanos and the Andes and the Boyaca Campaign.
