Nun's Well

Nun's Well

Nun's Well is a reported haunted site just inside the village of Cannock Wood in Staffordshire, England.

Local legend has it that hundreds of years ago, an unfortunate nun was once pushed down this well, with the well promptly being covered up. The site was haunted ever since.

Supposedly, years later, farm labourers uncovered the well and her phantom appeared before them. The well has since become overgrown by a tree, although a chasm is still visible between its roots. The tale bears a striking resemblance to the story Sleepy Hollow.[citation needed]

Despite the well's reputation, it is still popular with local campers.
