U.S. Highway 98 (US-98), internally designated by the Alabama Department of Transportation as State Route 42 (SR-42), is a major northwest-southeast state highway across the southern part of the U.S. state of Alabama. Notable sections of the highway include the Battleship Parkway across Mobile Bay, which is co-signed with US-90; and the Bankhead Tunnel, connecting the Battleship Parkway to downtown Mobile.

U.S. Highway 98 and SR-42 cross Mobile County and Baldwin County, the two southernmost counties of Alabama, in much the same way that US-90 and unsigned State Route 16 do. While in Alabama, US-98 and SR-42 pass through the following cities:
* Prichard
* Mobile
* Daphne
* Fairhope
* Foley

US-98 and SR-42 intersect the following Interstate highways, U.S. highways, and major state routes in Alabama:
* Interstate 65 at Mobile
* U.S. Highway 45 and unsigned State Route 17 at Mobile
* U.S. Highway 43 and unsigned State Route 13 at Mobile
* Two separate intersections with U.S. Highway 90 and unsigned State Route 16 at Mobile. US-90, US-98, SR-16 and SR-42 are co-routed as they pass through Mobile Bay, splitting in Daphne
