- Tōkyū Setagaya Line
The nihongo|Tōkyū Setagaya Line|東急世田谷線|Tōkyū Setagaya-sen is a
light rail line that is operated byTokyu Corporation . It runs from Sangen-Jaya to Shimo-Takaido, entirely withinSetagaya, Tokyo .Unlike other Tōkyū lines that are heavy commuter lines, the Setagaya Line is legally classified as a tramway, although the entire line is located on its own right-of-way. This is a result of the fact that it was a branch line of the former Tamagawa Line (= 玉川線, called "Tama-den", not the same line as the present-day
Tōkyū Tamagawa Line = 多摩川線 ), which ran on surface streets between Shibuya and theTama River .In Tokyo proper, only this and
Toden Arakawa Line are surviving tramways. (There also isEnoshima Electric Railway in theGreater Tokyo Area .) The line has its ownsmart card system called [http://www.tokyu.co.jp/railway/railway/west/eigyou/setamaru.htm Setamaru] , which cannot be used in other Tōkyū lines. Since March 2007,PASMO has also been accepted on the Setagaya Line as well as other Tokyu lines.Line data
