Ratkovo (Ратково) is a village in
Serbia . It is situated in theOdžaci municipality,West Bačka District ,Vojvodina province. The population of the village is 4,118 people (2002 census), of whom 3,760 are ethnicSerbs . http://www.ratkovo.com/Name
Its old name in Serbian was "Parabuć" (Парабућ). In German, it was known as "Parabutsch", and in Hungarian as "Paripás" or "Parabuty".
History
The village was mentioned first in 1543. During the Ottoman rule (16th-17th century), Parabuć was populated by ethnic
Serbs . Since the end of the 17th century, the village belonged to theHabsburg Monarchy , and since 1781 manyGermans settled here besides Serbs. Since 1918, the village was part of theKingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes and subsequent South Slavic states.Historical population
