binomial_authority = (Norman, 1939)The bigeye houndshark, "Iago omanensis", is a hound shark of the family Triakidae found on deep continental shelves in the western Indian Ocean from the Red Sea, the Gulf of Aqaba and the Gulf of Oman to Pakistan and southwestern India, between latitudes 30° N and 10° N, at depths of between 110 and 2,200 m. Its length is up to 37 cm.

The bigeye houndshark feeds on bony fishes (mostly lanternfishes) and cephalopods. Sexual dimorphism by size exists. It is utilized fresh for human consumption.

Coloration is brown or grey dorsally, lighter below, and dorsal and caudal fins may have darker tips and leading edges.

Reproduction is viviparous (with a yolk-sac placenta), with probably 2 to 10 pups in a litter.
