The Jenin Governorate ( _ar. محافظة جنين) is one of a number of
Governorates of the West Bank and Gaza Strip within thePalestinian Territories , It covers the northern extremity of theWest Bank including the area around the city ofJenin . According to thePalestinian Central Bureau of Statistics , the Governorate had a population of 256,212 (6.8% of the Palestinian population) with 48,169 households in mid-year 2007.
