American Nudist Research Library

The American Nudist Research Library is the first and believed to be the largest nudist/naturist library in North America. The American Nudist Research Library (ANRL) is located in Kissimmee, Florida. Kissimmee is also the location of the headquarters of the American Association for Nude Recreation (AANR). AANR and the ANRL are not affiliated, however they do operate in cooperation with each other in regards to nudism and related research.

The library was founded in 1979 by Read and Jayne Schuster, with the assistance of Jim and Lyda "Pete" Hadley. The Hadleys founded Cypress Cove Nudist Resort and Spa in Kissimmee in 1964. The resort is still in operation and is the home of the ANRL. However, the library is an independent facility not associated with the resort. The ANRL is a recognized 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization.

The library houses a very broad collection of nudist magazines dating back to the early 20th century, as well as books, videos, sound recordings, films, memorabilia, photographic images, and various documents and manuscripts all relating to naturism/nudism and nudity. The materials are also being converted to digital format(s) for preservation and ease of file sharing. The ANRL is staffed by volunteers and un-paid professionals who manage the operation. The ANRL is open to visitors, as well as by appointment for qualified researchers. The ANRL is a member based organization.
