Marquette Catholic School

Marquette Catholic School

Marquette Catholic School is the school for Christ the King Parish in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Its principal is Pete Theban.

The school was founded at its current Cherry Street location in 1926. Originally named for the parish, it received its current name in 1930 from Ruth Murphy, whose children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren would eventually attend the school. Although currently only serving students through the 8th grade, Marquette School maintained a high school until the 1950s. On May 13, 1990, construction began on the a new gymnasium, school library, and cafeteria. Fletcher Hall (the former Temple Israel) was razed to make room for a new playground, and the old blacktop playground became the site of the new gymnasium, auditorium, cafeteria, and school offices. The new building was designed in keeping with the iconic Art Deco design of the parish. In 2007 a new building was constructed across the street which became the new Early Child Development Center (ECDC), new playground, a second gymnasium and expanded parking. The ECDC building also maintains the Art Deco style of the Parish. They have teacheres K-8th grade along with special ed. teachers & children.
