- Guruguru Mountain
Guruguru Mountain is a solid dome shaped volcanic rock inShurugwi ,Zimbabwe , nearPakame Mission . "Guruguru", its Shona name, and "Nkulunkulu", its Ndebele name, both mean "the biggest". It is by far the highest mountain in theShurugwi Rural Areas and the Midlands Province ofZimbabwe .Guruguru is a solid rock mountain formed when a volcanic eruption pushed lava up through a central core. It has a radius of over three kilometers and a height of over 500 meters. There is a spring of water at its summit. Little vegetation grows on the solid rock mountain except near the base.
It is seen as a great symbol by the locals, some worshipers go to the mountain to pray, there is also a local church which baptize its members in the water from the spring. This is a site where; tradition holds that certain people can consult their ancestors in the mountain.
