Concept Schools

Concept Schools

Concept Schools is a nonprofit school management and consulting organization supporting the development of urban science-focused charter schools in the Midwestern United States.

It was founded by Taner Ertekin, one of the founders of the Horizon Science Academies (HSA) in Ohio. The first two Horizon Science Academies opened in Cleveland and Columbus, Ohio in 1999. The founders of HSA incorporated Concept Schools to expand their efforts in 2002. Additional charter schools were opened in the Fall of 2004 in Toledo, Ohio and Chicago with additional openings in 2005: Dayton, Toledo, Cincinnati, and two more schools in Cleveland, Ohio. Concept Schools opened their first school in Indiana[1] in 2007 and in Michigan[2] in 2009. The organization expects to open two to three additional charter schools in each year.[citation needed]
