Mary Beth Evans (born March 7, 1961) is an American actress. She was born in Pasadena, California.

Career

Evans is most famous for her role as Kayla Brady Johnson in the soap opera Days of our Lives from 1986 to 1992, 2006 to 2009, and 2010 to present. Her character became half of the supercouple Steve and Kayla. Steve was played by Stephen Nichols.

Prior to her first stint on Days of our Lives, she portrayed Piper in the teen romantic comedy flick Lovelines.

Evans returned to soaps in September 1993 as villainess Katherine Bell on General Hospital in which she remained until October 1999. While on General Hospital she was once again paired with Nichols who played Stefan Cassadine.

She moved to New York City to start her recurring role as Sierra Esteban Montgomery on As the World Turns a role she played from December 2000 to late 2005 and reprised from July 2010 uintil the show's finale on September 17, 2010.

In 2004, One Life to Live almost signed her on contract for the role of Dr. Paige Miller on the series, but Evans backed out at the last moment and the role was filled with Kimberlin Brown.

Mary Beth has made some guest appearances on TV series like Father Murphy, in 2 episodes of Knight Rider, and appeared in Masquerade, Remington Steele, Riptide, Murder, She Wrote, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Monk, and Nip/Tuck. and not forgetting "to sir with love"

On June 12, 2006, Evans returned to Days of our Lives as Kayla after a fourteen-year absence. In 2009, Evans and co-star Stephen Nichols were fired.[1]

On Thursday, June 12, 2010 Evans returned again to Days of Our Lives as Kayla for a short-term stint and as a part of Alice Horton on-screen farewell.

Personal life

Evans has been married to Dr. Michael Schwartz since 1985. They have three children, Daniel Luke (born 1987), Katherine Elizabeth (born 1990), and Matthew Joseph (born 1993).
